Small steps for a healthy mouth
A checkup helps us find problems before you notice pain. We look for tooth decay, sore gums, signs of wear, and other changes in your mouth. Tell us about pain, bleeding, or a new sore.

What happens at a visit?
We review your health and medicines, check your teeth and gums, and take X-rays if needed. A cleaning removes buildup that you cannot brush away at home. Some people need a separate visit for gum care.
Between visits
Brush twice a day with fluoride toothpaste. Clean between your teeth each day. Ask us to show you a brush or floss tool that is easy for you to use.
Your next visit depends on your gum health and risk of decay. We will help you choose a schedule that fits your needs.
Common questions
Do I need X-rays every time?
No. Your dentist decides based on your health, past images, and what the exam shows.
What if nothing hurts?
Early decay and gum disease may not hurt. Checkups can help find them.
This is general information. An exam helps us find the right care for you.
